It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas...

I love this time of year, that's for sure! I told Nate yesterday Black Friday shopping is one of my favorite days of the year. (He didn't understand why). But there's just something about standing in line at Target half an hour before they open to rush in and find the items you want. Target was really my best place of success yesterday, where I got a Leapster game for one of Nate's nieces, and a few things for Tessa, including these: A princess vanity and a Big Wheels Tricycle that blows bubbles. (For some strange reason it was in their Black Friday ad and I can't find it anywhere online).

My parents also got Tessa a book called "Elf on a Shelf." The theory is that the elf that comes with the book watches over the children in that house from Thanksgiving to Christmas to make sure they are good little children for Santa to come. Cute idea. Right now, Tessa just thinks Buddy (our elf) is a pal, but I think she'll totally get the concept next year.
And here she is trying on her Christmas dress. It came in the mail the other day from The Children's Place and she insisted on putting it on her. (Don't worry, the green shirt underneath will not be part of the Christmas outfit. I have an ivory turtleneck).
And finally, I am thrilled to finally have a place to put up my Christmas village this year, even if it is only part of the village...
This long weekend has been great. Nate actually did no work at all for two days in a row...a rare break for him, even on the weekends. He has done some exterior illumination, nothing Clark Griswold like, but still very nice. Pictures to come soon!
