Before I leave my two babes for a half-day at Mitchell's Spa (finally cashing in on my Christmas present from the hubs), I thought I'd update the blog with the last couple of days. It has been HOT here and I have loved it...although access to a pool would be nice and Tessa's bathing suits are in Minnesota. The closest we got to "swimming" was a Rubbermaid tub filled with water and briefly playing in the hose while we watered Grandma's flowers. Which I guess works, except this little guy isn't supposed to get his ears wet in tap/hose water since he got the tubes.
Speaking of the tubes, the doctor said they look perfect! We had his follow-up appointment yesterday and everything was great. There is no more fluid or pus in Morgan's ears AT ALL! I think this is the first time since December I've heard that from a doctor. Hopefully he will start talking now. Still waiting for something distinguishable, but he sure has mastered the art of babbling! As for Tessa, we've been spending a lot of time on the deck doing puzzles. I have to say, she is quite good at them. She can complete these 100 piece puzzles pretty easily and has a knack for figuring out where each piece belongs. (It does help if the puzzle is princess)! With this weather, we've been setting up puzzle shop on the deck, while Morgan plays around either on the deck or inside. I thought this picture was kind of interesting. Morgan is inside with Papa and Tessa was outside with my mom, but they are all in the picture.
I clearly have a lot to update on, as these pictures were from Mother's Day last weekend. Nate's mom got the kids bunny Zhu Zhu pets and they have enjoyed chasing them around. Clever toy idea and very good at keeping their attention!
And here is my little non-napper. Not sure what is going on in that department. For our sitter, Tessa naps religiously. Every. Single. Day. For like 1.5-2 hours, sometimes more. I can't get the girl down for a nap to save my life, unless it involves a walk in the stroller or a car ride. Kelly tells them that Mommies come after naps. Well, I can't really employ the same strategy and have tried to implement bribes of other varieties with no luck. What am I going to do this summer?
I think every parent of young kids must dread this question: Is she done with naps?

Glad Morgan is doing better! If it gets hot again before you leave, come on over for a swim. We have plenty of swimsuits and a large kid pool.
Cate gave up naps once I had Brennan and started staying at home this year. And she napped religiously for our sitter. Sometimes she'll nap if we've been busy in the morning playing outside, or at the zoo or museum, etc. She'll nap if we go for a walk or a drive after lunch, but with the price of gas, walk is usually the only option. The bonus though is that on days she doesn't nap she goes to bed an hour or so earlier than normal. We do have "quiet time" every day though. She watches a movie or looks at books and cannot get off the couch for one hour. Sometimes I doze with her since Brennan is asleep and sometimes I use the time to get stuff done. Good luck!
