A Royal Bride

We woke up early this morning, not so much for the royal wedding, but to check on the health status of thing 1 and thing 2. To recap yesterday's events and post of twos, we need to start with Wednesday afternoon when I picked the kids up from the sitter. As soon as I arrived, I noticed Morgan had pinkeye. No doubt about it. It's run through our house twice before, so I definitely know what it looks like. I was bummed, as I really wanted him to get the tubes on Thursday and they have to be healthy to get them. Pinkeye medication was started right away. Wednesday night, right before bed, Tessa looks like she is starting to get the dreaded pinkeye as well. Plans change. My mom was supposed to accompany me with Morgan to the surgery center, but instead stayed home with a Pinkeye infested Tessa. I forgot Morgan's bottle when I left for the surgery center, so I called my mom who thankfully was able to load Tessa up and bring it to me. On their way home, Tessa vomited all over my mom's car. Twice. Then, Morgan came out of surgery tired, cranky, and hungry and pretty much stayed that way all day. When the day came to a close, the pinkeye was still rampant in both kids, so I requested a day off school so I could stay home and medicate them. Without even intending to, I was able to watch the royal wedding in my jammies. And a certain little girl I know loves princesses and enjoyed watching a real live princess marry a prince. Which led to me showing her (and trying on) my wedding dress. Then Grandma pulled out this:

Yep, that is Mommy's First Communion Dress, which sadly isn't all that big on Tessa. And yes, she is calling it her wedding dress.

So I figured out what my "good" two was = two days off work! I am so looking forward to staying at home with my munchkins, if only for a year!

Things Seem to be Happening in Twos...

Two kids with pinkeye.

Two tubes put into Morgan's ears.

Two ears that yet again had ear infections and were full of pus.

Two prescriptions (one for pinkeye, one for ear infection)

Two times that Tessa threw up this morning while Morgan was getting his tubes put in. (Sorry, Grandma...both times were in her car).

Two bottles in the middle of the night for Morgan since he couldn't eat/drink after midnight (and he kept waking up, which I learned this morning was due to yet another set of pus-filled ear infections).

One tired mommy.

Maybe my next set of two can be something good?

Happy 1st Birthday, Little Man!

What a wonderful, crazy weekend we had this past weekend, celebrating both Easter as well as our little guy's first birthday! We had two celebrations for Morgan, one on Easter Sunday with Nate's side and one Saturday night with my family as well as the Michigan Palmers and Mimi and Pop! He doesn't look thrilled in this picture, but it was about bedtime for this one year old...
The hit of the night was definitely this awesome car rampway and cars from Grandma and Papa. Morgan and Tessa both love it...this afternoon after I got home from school I definitely caught Tessa trying to send her miniature princesses down the rampway while riding on cars. Snow White and Cinderella have traded in their horse and carriages for sports cars!
This cute little cake toy sings the Happy Birthday song. It was Tessa's gift to Morgan. I just love how cute they are playing together right now.
And last but not least, is Morgan enjoying his birthday feast! We had chicken meatball pasta, a family favorite; Morgan dug right in to. And drumroll please....
my little gag-reflux-prone-never-thought-he'd-get-off-baby-food baby is on all people food and whole milk! Hooray! Now if only we could get him off the bottle, but I'm not holding my breath on that one...I still have pictures from celebrating with the Bullocks. Unfortunately, the pictures are on my camera and the cord to download them is in Minnesota.

Also, what do you think of the new background? I think I'm in love...it just seems so cheerful. Perhaps it will bring the sunshine with it? As Tessa would sing, "Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day!"

Happy Easter!

Our good friends the Polcas invited us to their church for an Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday and we had a great time. Tessa and Anna really are best friends, and had a wonderful time running around, making crafts, getting their hands painted, and more!
Though hard to see, Anna is on the left and Tessa on the right. I didn't take any more pictures, as they were constantly in motion and ended up looking like this one below. It was a great time and we are already planning to come again next year. Tessa will take any chance she can get to play with Anna!
Snow White (oh wait, that's Tessa) also dyed some eggs at the kitchen table with her brother Morgan carefully observing from the high chair.

Apparently Tessa is so talented she can dye eggs with her eyes closed. Kidding, kidding! We had a VERY busy weekend this weekend including two Easter celebrations, two 1st birthday parties for a very special boy, sending Lucy on an airplane to Minnesota, and a very nice three-day weekend with Daddy home. More pictures to come...

This past weekend was low-key. The highlights were probably me finally getting my hair cut (it had been way too long) and a quick visit to the Easter bunny at Kenwood Towne Centre. I had planned to take the kids to see the Easter bunny and participate in the egg hunt, pony rides, etc. at the Beach Waterpark on Saturday. But, it was raining, and I personally didn't think that would be very fun. So my mom bribed Tessa into napping with the promise of a visit to the mall bunny. Ironically, she didn't even want to see or talk to him. This guy did though:
Morgan loves Santa, the easter bunny, you name it! Sorry the picture is so fuzzy. It was on my phone and I wasn't about to pay $20 for one snapshot. In other exciting news, Morgan actually started drinking from a sippy cup. Hooray! I thought I was going to be bottle feeding this one until he turns two...don't get me wrong, he still has 4 bottles a day, but at least there may be an end in sight!
And though Tessa didn't want to sit with the real Easter bunny, she had no qualms making this stuffed bunny at Build-a-Bear and dressing her as a bride. Thank you for the bunny, Grandma!
She made extra sure to get Bunny very clean! I think the bath station is her favorite at Build-a-Bear.
Have a great week! We have a busy weekend coming up with Easter and celebrating Morgan's birthday! Hard to believe my baby boy is turning one in two days!

We're Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo!

Tessa LOVES going to the zoo. And our zoo pass expired. In December. Ouch. With the upcoming move to Minnesota, I didn't want to buy a pass to the Cincinnati Zoo since we'd only be here for 5 months longer, with three of those months being quite chilly. So I was thrilled on Thursday when I saw an ad for the free Thursday night concerts at the zoo. I was sold and we went that night. The flowers were gorgeous, and the kids had a great time. Tessa was smiling here, but I think the sun caused some squinting...

She wouldn't really pose exactly where I wanted her, but alas, she did pose.
Tessa was a huge fan of the elephants today. She was also very excited to see Tessa the giraffe's new baby, but unfortunately she was hiding behind a wall both times we tried to catch a glimpse.

Morgan was at the zoo too. But I wore him in the Baby Bjorn for the majority of the trip, hence the lack of pictures. We had a great weekend with Daddy in town this past weekend and are looking forward to a busy week. Morgan's doctor's appointment for tubes is Thursday, so I am hoping we can resolved the whole ear infection thing prior to moving. Poor little guy :(
