Thanksgiving Day

This is Amber, Jen, and I at the Ronald McDonald house.  Our team of students at school did a service project, collecting food items and household goods for the house.  The four teachers on my team went down to the house on Wednesday to drop off three carloads full of items!  We also were given a tour of this very special place.  Afterwards, Amber and I popped over to Children's Hospital to visit Liz, one of our former students from last year who was diagnosed with leukemia about 2 months ago.  While we were visiting, her doctors came in and announced that they had some good news: She got to go home!  Her blasts were below 1%, which was great news.  She has had so many people rooting for her and I'm so glad she got to be home with her family for Thanksgiving.  (On a sidenote, it was probably a good thing Amber and I were there: we helped undecorate the hundreds of cards, posters, bent-up frying pans, t-shirts, etc. decorating every square inch of her room).

And on to another topic: Thanksgiving Day was wonderful this year.  We had my parents over for breakfast in the morning for a traditional fare of pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs.  Tessa always loves visits from them.  I particularly like how you can see Nate in the mirror.  He was helping get Tessa to look at me for the picture.

Yea!  One of my favorite toys!

Thanksgiving evening we head to Nate's mom and Steve's house. We had a great time seeing everyone and the food was awesome, as always.  Steve is a wonderful cook!
