The Flu
So we've had a really fun last few days in the Palmer house. Saturday morning we waited in line for our H1N1 vaccinations at the Butler county fairgrounds. Saturday afternoon Tessa came down with a low grade fever. I assumed it was from the vaccine, so we gave her some Motrin and that was that. Until the next day, when it spiked to 102. I obviously stayed home with her on Monday and scheduled a late afternoon doctor's appointment, where it was confirmed that she had both the flu as well as her first ear infection in her right ear. While I was at the doctor, Nate called to tell me he was coming home from work early because he was not feeling well at all. I sent him to the doctor's as well, knowing Tessa had the flu, he probably did too. A few hours later, we had all our prescriptions in tow. I (the only one who didn't catch it) am still being required by the doctor to take Tamiflu as a precaution since I am pregnant. On a positive note, I have not had any bad reactions to the Tamiflu unlike some others I've known who have taken it. I'm hoping to return to work tomorrow as long as Nate is well enough to take care of Tessa or she has no fever at all and can return to the sitter. It has been a long few days and I am looking forward to the return of normalcy.

Oh no! I've already broken out the defenses to ward off the flu. I was reading about Elderberry, it's supposed to be helpful in fighting viruses, as well as something called Umcka. Nate might want to give it a try to shorten the duration. (Nature's Way makes them,) I tried the Umcka on advice of a friend who swears by it. I hope everyone feels better soon! http://www.naturesway.com/?pid=6970
