One Expensive Week!

So, you may have noticed I haven't blogged for a few days, and there was also a few "empty" posts on here? Well, we'll blame that on the coffee. You see, I was sitting with the laptop enjoying my typical morning routine (Let's hope I still get to do this with new baby's arrival) and drinking my beloved half cup of coffee. Well, as I had the coffee in my hand, I sneezed, and a bit of coffee splattered onto our MacBook. Uh oh. I wiped it off and everything was working fine with it until later in the day when it started acting a bit funny. If you pressed a button once, it would do the command maybe fifteen times. Then, when I tried updating the blog Saturday night it really went haywire. I turned it off to restart and after that it wouldn't turn on. Disaster! Fortunately, we headed to the Mac store in Kenwood yesterday and they were able to replace the keyboard for us. $250 later, my little sneeze while drinking coffee incident had been repaired....Unfortunately, this was not our most expensive repair, but would have been if we'd needed an entirely new computer. The most expensive repair was on the first day of break, I took this beautiful little girl with me to the VW dealership to check out an oil leak in my car:
Four hours after we arrived, we left in a leak-free Jetta, costing a whopping $541. I needed a new oil pan due to an incompetent service technician from my last oil change who stripped my oil pan. Gotta love that! I guess I will be going to VW for my oil changes from now on...

And you know how bad things happen in threes? Well, last night Tessa decided the bath would be a great place to um, you know, and so Nate was cleaning up the bath and the bath toys in the sink while I cleaned up Tessa in our bathroom. I heard an, "Oh s%*$" and he came into our room and said, "It's just going to be an expensive month." The drain in the sink had gotten stuck while he was sterilizing the bath toys and he had tried to pull it out. Unsuccessfully I might add, so the back part was all the way out and loose, while the drain was still sealed, with gross, gross water in it I might add. Plumber Laura (37 weeks pregnant) got under the sink and was able to repair this one though. Phew! Crisis averted. Let's hope the Palmer family finances remain smooth and steady the rest of this month. We have decided this week was God's way of telling us it isn't quite time for that minivan yet! I can think of a lot more fun ways we could have spent that money, but I guess this week was my little dose of reality.

On the baby front, I'm still hoping soon. I have a doctor's appointment today, so maybe there will be more progress. One can only hope, though Nate is out of town Thursday, overnight, and all day Friday. I'm sure that's when Baby Boy will decide to make his arrival with our recent luck!

Bummer of a week. I hope for your sake that baby boy doesn't try to make an appearance while Nate is gone.
