Transurphobia

Apparently transurphobia means fear of haircuts (this is according to one of my 7th graders from last year and I am too lazy to double check my source right now). And I think Tessa has it. Yesterday my mom and I were talking about Tessa's hair and how long it is getting, but how she won't keep a bow in or let you make a Pebbles-style ponytail. Therefore, it is always in her eyes. So yesterday I decided I was going to trim her bangs. Bad idea. My first snip was way too short to start off with, and it scared her, so she wouldn't sit still and it went from bad to worse. I eventually got it somewhat even, heavy on the somewhat. So...I took her to Cookie Cutters for an emergency trim. She kind of looks like a boy in front....ah! I am going to have to put a bow in the back of her hair until it grows out a little bit, and Nate and I decided this will definitely delay her 18-month pictures.

As for the haircut, I can only wish I hadn't had to hold her and could have videotaped the whole thing. Man did she cry, and crawl over me, and basically throw a fit. At least Vicky, who cut her hair, was able to get is straighter in front (though it is REALLY short), and Tessa enjoyed playing on the slide after the haircutting was finished.

It really isn't so bad once you see it in person.
